Jay Chou Strikes a Chord with Fans at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

(Hong Kong - October 1, 2006) Talented Taiwanese singer/songwriter Jay Chou joined the all-star line up at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong today as loyal fans paid homage to the star at the world-famous tourist attraction at The Peak.

Chou's loyal legion of fans gathered at Hong Kong Glamour to check out the star's incredible wax likeness, where it takes centre stage amidst a local and international line up of stars such as Brad Pitt, Aaron Kwok, Hugh Grant, Kelly Chen, Sylvester Stallone and Michelle Yeoh.

Accompanied by a white baby grand piano, Chou's figure invites guests to be the life of the party by playing one of three of Jay's chart-topping hits on the piano while the singer looks on. The three songs – ‘Feng', ‘Black Humour' and ‘In the Name of the Father' – all of which Jay had written, were specially selected by the star himself, each marking a notable period in his career and highlighting the progressive sophistication of his music. Now, fans interact with Jay and share his passion in music as they "play" along.

Jay Chou's wax likeness is dressed in a vintage-chic outfit from a previous album "Yeh Wei Mei", which was named after his mother. The brown and beige leisure suit get-up on the modern pop singer is a metaphor of his music, which is a combination of vintage Chinese music and contemporary R&B.

Kelly Mak, Head of Marketing & Customer Services of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said, "Jay Chou is a multi-faceted star in today's music industry, a rare find who incorporates classical Chinese music elements into R&B music and thus creates a unique sound that is loved by fans of all ages."

"Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is proud to play a part in showing the world this Asian talent and hope our guests will have a chance to learn more about this Jay Chou as they "play" his music on the piano in Hong Kong Glamour."

The gifted singer, who studied piano since he was a child, is equally skilled in such musical instruments such as guitar, cello, jazz drum as well as the Chinese Dizi. Jay has won countless awards throughout Asia for his singing and songwriting talents, including recognition from the IFPI (The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) and CASH (Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited).
