Leon Lai Arrives in Style at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

(Hong Kong – December 20, 2006) Madame Tussauds Hong Kong welcomes Leon Lai…or is it Li Xiao Jun in <Comrades...Almost a Love Story>? The handsome star today visited the celebrity-inspired attraction to meet his movie alter ego for the first time.

Kelly Mak, Head of Marketing & Customer Services at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said, "In conjunction with the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Hong Kong WinterFest, we are proud to introduce Leon Lai as Li Xiao Jun in <Comrades...Almost a Love Story> as a finale to 2006."

"Leon has been one of the most sought-after local stars amongst our guests and we hope that by the introduction of his wax likeness it will attract more tourists to visit Madame Tussauds Hong Kong." She continued.

During the unveiling event held at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Leon's supporters watched the famous scene of <Comrades...Almost a Love Story> where Li Xiao Jun (Leon's character in the movie) peddles across the bustling streets of Hong Kong. As they stood mesmerized by this romantic scene, Leon pulled apart the screen with a flourish, and his wax likeness appeared on stage, ready for action on a bicycle.

"My longtime supporters often asked me about my experience while filming their favorite movie, <Comrades...Almost a Love Story>, now they can come to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and experience it for themselves!" Leon said.

Guests will have a chance to reenact the famous scene from <Comrades...Almost a Love Story> as Leon rides his bicycle along the bustling streets of Hong Kong. The wax figure will be featured in "World Premiere" alongside with other classic film characters such as Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter and Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

"We can now get up close and personal with 'Leon' at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong whenever we want. We can't wait to be "his" passengers in our favourite movie <Comrades...Almost a Love Story>." Leon's supporters who witnessed the unveiling said.

About Leon Lai
Born in 1966, Leon is one of the Four Kings of Cantopop. His debut album "LEON" witnessed his rise to stardom. His 1991 hit "Sorry, I love you" has won numerous music awards. His brief stint in film has won him numerous nominations in the Hong Kong Film Awards. He finally won the 39th Golden Horse Award in his portrayal in "Three: Going Home". In 2005, he won the Best Actor Award from Changchun China Film Festival in his portrayal in "Leaving me Loving you". He was the first Hong Kong actor to receive such award. He was also awarded as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Persons" in Hong Kong, and was awarded the Medal of Honour (M. H) by the HKSAR Government in 2003.

The avid philanthropist is an ambassador of the UNICEF as well as a chairperson for the Hong Kong Community Chest.
