(Hong Kong – March 14, 2007) Leo Ku and his personal cartoon creation 'Kubi' are set to be the next celebrities to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Leo and 'Kubi's' admission into the "world famous home of the famous" at The Peak marks the first time that a celebrity has been able to bring his own creation to join the ranks of super stardom at the attraction as a duo.
Kelly Mak, Head of Marketing and Customer Services said, "Leo Ku was invited to be part of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong as he was consistently one of the most popular choices of local male artists amongst our guests based on our exit survey. In addition, Leo has made significant contributions to the world of Asian pop music and film. He has received numerous awards, which has proved his contribution and success in the music industry."
Leo's sitting – which took a total of five hours to complete – was conducted in Hong Kong last November. According to principal sculptor Paul Benett, Leo was very patient as hundreds of photographs were taken from every angle, and his hair, teeth and eyes colour-matched to perfection.
Leo was so excited throughout the sitting process and was amazed by the precision and details of the measurements. He said, "I was fascinated by the entire sitting process. The measurement process was in such detail that over 200 measurements were taken of my body. Sizes which I may not normally have noticed were also taken and I believe guests visiting the attraction will know 'me' much better from now on. At the same time I am excited to see 'myself' and 'Kubi' as life size wax figures."
During the sitting, Leo brainstormed with the team on the interactive experience and gave a lot of valuable comments to the creative team.
Kelly said, "We were delighted by Leo's close involvement in this project and are pleased that the resulting wax figure and interactive experience will have Leo's personalised touch. Leo had so many ideas on how to develop the experience further and soon guests will not only get to 'meet' Leo and 'Kubi', they can also play an interactive and 'Kubi'-inspired game."
Fans would be able to get up close and persona with Leo and his pal 'Kubi' from early April. Stay tuned!
